Product Features
When space matters but style still needs to shine, the 36 bi-fold shower door delivers a wider, easier entry without the footprint of a swing door. Its inward-folding design opens up the shower area, making everyday routines simpler—especially in bathrooms where clearance is tight or layouts feel cramped.
- Space-saving inward fold: The door folds toward the wall to maximize free space, providing a comfortable opening even in narrow or angled bathrooms.
- ANSI-certified 1/4" tempered glass: Strong, safe, and easy to clean—ideal for busy households with children, guests, or seniors.
- Semi-frameless, modern design: Three-sided framing with an open top creates a clean, contemporary look while maintaining structural stability.
- Fits more layouts with adjustable width: The 36" model adjusts from 36" to 37 3/8", making it ideal for older homes with uneven walls or slightly oversized openings.
- Trackless bottom system: Eliminates the bottom rail, reduces dirt buildup, and helps water return into the shower base more cleanly.
-

- Reversible left/right installation for any plumbing layout
- Full-length magnetic closing seal for a tight, reliable closure
- 180° folding hinge for easier access in tight spaces

Measure the doorways leading up to your bathroom to ensure you can carry the shower door through your house without damaging the glass. Make sure there is room to turn your shower door if necessary.
What You Will Need
- At least two people
- Tape measure
- Pen & paper
- Level
Step 1: Make a Sketch of Your Shower
With your pen and paper, sketch a small diagram of your shower. Use this visual reference to label your measurements.
Take each measurement twice, and if your numbers differ, go with the larger one. Always round to the nearest 1/16ʺ for accuracy. If you opt for a custom shower door, knowing precisely how to measure for a glass shower door is even more essential.
Step 2: Measure the Width
Using your tape measure, measure the width of your shower from one side of the wall to the other. Measure the width in three spots – along the base, middle, and top. See Image 1.
If you have a neo-angle shower, measure the width in sections along the base of the shower pan. See Image 2.

Step 3: Check if the Walls Are Plumb
Older homes or showers may not have walls that are perfectly straight. If your wall is plumb, meaning straight up and down, you should have a worry-free shower door installation. If your walls are not plumb, you should seek the help of a professional when installing your shower door. To check if your shower walls are plumb, place your level flat against each shower wall. Look at the bubble on the level and see if it is centered between the two indication lines. If the bubble is centered, the wall is plumb. If the bubble is not centered, angle the level away from the wall until it is. Holding the level in this position, mark the distance between the wall and the level on your measurement sheet. Share these measurements with the professional who will be installing your shower door. Do this at the bottom and top of each wall to ensure they are plumb all the way up. See Image 3 below.

Step 4: Measure the Height
Measure the distance from the base of your shower to its top. If your shower door will rest on a threshold, have your measurement begin at the top of this "base.” See Image 4. If your desired shower door size is shorter than your shower's overall height, only measure up to this point. See Image 5.

Step 5: Measure the Opening
If your new shower door will be the same style as your current door, measure the width of the current door and use that measurement as a reference. If your new door will sit over a section of the threshold that you have previously measured, use this width. See Image 6. If your shower door will be smaller than your threshold's width, measure your desired width. An example would be a fixed shower door that only covers three-fourths of your threshold's overall width. See Image 7.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 36 bi-fold shower door suitable for small or narrow bathrooms?
Yes. Even though this model offers a wider 36" entry, the inward-folding design takes up minimal space in front of the shower. This gives you more room to move around and makes it especially useful for tight alcoves, corner bathrooms, or homes with limited clearance for a swing door.
Can homeowners install this shower door without hiring a contractor?
Most homeowners can. The 36 bi-fold shower door includes an adjustable width range (36"–37 3/8") that helps compensate for uneven walls, which are common in older West Coast homes. The reversible installation option, bottom pivot height adjustment, and trackless design make the setup more forgiving for DIY users. Clear instructions and pre-aligned components further simplify installation.
How well does this door prevent water leakage during daily use?
It uses a multi-point water-control system: a magnetic seal along the edge for a tight close, a waterproof bottom strip to block splashes, and a hinge-and-glass alignment that keeps water from escaping around the fold. Together, these features help keep your bathroom floor dry—ideal for households with kids or seniors where slip prevention matters.
Is the tempered glass safe and durable for family use?
Absolutely. The 1/4" ANSI-certified tempered glass is engineered to withstand daily use and resist impacts. If breakage occurs, it shatters into small granular pieces instead of sharp shards. Combined with stainless steel hardware and corrosion-resistant framing, the 36 bi-fold shower door is a strong long-term choice for busy, multi-user bathrooms.
How does the 36" size benefit my remodel compared to smaller bi-fold doors?
The 36" width provides a noticeably wider entry, making it easier for older adults, tall individuals, or anyone carrying shower essentials to get in and out comfortably. It's ideal for master bathrooms or guest bathrooms where accessibility and comfort matter—without requiring the space of a full swing door.
Will this 36 bi-fold shower door work with uneven floors or slightly imperfect openings?
Yes. The bottom pivot allows small height adjustments to align the door with sloping or slightly uneven bases. The adjustable width and reversible installation help accommodate out-of-square walls—common in homes built 20+ years ago. These flexible features make it an excellent fit for partial remodels and retrofits.
