Measure the doorways leading up to your bathroom to ensure you can carry the shower door through your house without damaging the glass. Make sure there is room to turn your shower door if necessary.
What You Will Need
- At least two people
- Tape measure
- Pen & paper
- Level
Step 1: Make a Sketch of Your Shower
With your pen and paper, sketch a small diagram of your shower. Use this visual reference to label your measurements.
Take each measurement twice, and if your numbers differ, go with the larger one. Always round to the nearest 1/16ʺ for accuracy. If you opt for a custom shower door, knowing precisely how to measure for a glass shower door is even more essential.
Step 2: Measure the Width
Using your tape measure, measure the width of your shower from one side of the wall to the other. Measure the width in three spots – along the base, middle, and top. See Image 1.
If you have a neo-angle shower, measure the width in sections along the base of the shower pan. See Image 2.

Step 3: Check if the Walls Are Plumb
Older homes or showers may not have walls that are perfectly straight. If your wall is plumb, meaning straight up and down, you should have a worry-free shower door installation. If your walls are not plumb, you should seek the help of a professional when installing your shower door. To check if your shower walls are plumb, place your level flat against each shower wall. Look at the bubble on the level and see if it is centered between the two indication lines. If the bubble is centered, the wall is plumb. If the bubble is not centered, angle the level away from the wall until it is. Holding the level in this position, mark the distance between the wall and the level on your measurement sheet. Share these measurements with the professional who will be installing your shower door. Do this at the bottom and top of each wall to ensure they are plumb all the way up. See Image 3 below.

Step 4: Measure the Height
Measure the distance from the base of your shower to its top. If your shower door will rest on a threshold, have your measurement begin at the top of this "base.” See Image 4. If your desired shower door size is shorter than your shower's overall height, only measure up to this point. See Image 5.

Step 5: Measure the Opening
If your new shower door will be the same style as your current door, measure the width of the current door and use that measurement as a reference. If your new door will sit over a section of the threshold that you have previously measured, use this width. See Image 6. If your shower door will be smaller than your threshold's width, measure your desired width. An example would be a fixed shower door that only covers three-fourths of your threshold's overall width. See Image 7.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Trivon Series different from other similar-looking shower doors?
The Trivon Series may look similar to a few other minimalist sliding shower doors, but they differ in glass thickness, handle style, sliding system, and soft-close features. Here is a clear comparison to help you choose the right fit for your bathroom upgrade:
| Feature / Series | Trivon | Verta | Vantelle-s |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glass Thickness | 5/16" (8mm) tempered glass | 3/8" (10mm) tempered glass | 5/16" (8mm) tempered glass |
| Handle Style | Rounded dual horizontal handles | Rounded dual horizontal handles (similar to Trivon) | Straight-line dual horizontal handles |
| Sliding System | Dual sliding panels on rollers | Dual sliding panels on rollers | Dual sliding function, but only one panel uses a full rail for a cleaner look |
| Soft-Close System | Yes — included | No | Yes — included |
| Frame Style | Frameless sides for an open, airy look | Frameless sides for a similar open look | Frameless sides for a minimalist appearance |
| Overall Look & Feel | Balanced, quiet, and modern | Similar appearance but without soft-close | Sleeker, more linear aesthetic with minimalist hardware |
Will this 60 inch shower door fit my existing shower opening?
Yes. This 60 inch shower door is designed to fit openings from 56" to 60 3/4", giving you flexibility if your walls are not perfectly square or if your opening is slightly under or over 60". The frameless bypass design also allows either panel to be used as the entry, making it easier to match different bathroom layouts.
Is the 5/16" (8mm) tempered glass thick and safe enough for daily family use?
Absolutely. The Trivon Series uses ANSI-certified 5/16" (8mm) tempered glass, which offers a strong, impact-resistant panel with a balanced, lightweight feel. It provides enough rigidity to feel stable and secure while still sliding smoothly, making it a safe choice for families with kids, guests, or seniors using the shower every day.
Does the soft-close mechanism really make a difference in everyday use?
Yes. The soft-close system is engineered to slow the door gently before it reaches the end of the track, preventing sudden slams and reducing stress on the glass and hardware. Over time, this helps protect fingers, preserve the rollers and rail, and keep your 60 inch shower door operating quietly and smoothly, even with frequent use.
How well does this 60 inch shower door prevent water from leaking onto the bathroom floor?
The Trivon Series uses a transparent EVA seal along the glass edge and a stainless steel waterproof threshold at the bottom to help keep water inside the shower. These components work together to minimize splashes, reduce puddles on the bathroom floor, and support a safer, drier space—especially important in homes where multiple family members share the same bathroom.
Is the installation process DIY-friendly, or do I need a professional installer?
Many homeowners with basic tools and some DIY experience can install this door themselves, while others may choose to hire a local handyman. The adjustable fit range (56" to 60 3/4") and a guide rail that can be trimmed up to 4 inches make it easier to achieve a precise fit. Clear instructions and modular hardware help simplify the process, reducing installation time and potential rework.
What makes the Trivon Series different from other matte black sliding shower doors?
The Trivon Series combines several features that are not always found together in similar matte black models: 5/16" tempered glass for a strong yet manageable panel weight, a frameless bypass design for a clean modern look, a soft-close system for quieter operation, and 304 stainless steel hardware for long-term corrosion resistance. This mix of durability, safety, and style makes it a smart upgrade choice for homeowners seeking a reliable 60 inch shower door with a contemporary aesthetic.
